Vehicle Description

The R107 SL arrived in 1972, replacing the popular and well-received R113 280SL. The new 107 was all-new from the ground up, with a design centered on Mercedes-Benz’s ongoing commitment to safety. Continuing the theme set by the R113, the new R107 offered relaxed, luxurious performance from a range of six and eight-cylinder engines, with outstanding build quality and elegant, understated styling by Friedrich Geiger. As a testament to the Geiger’s superb design, the R107 SL remained in production for over seventeen years, with the styling virtually unchanged from the first car in 1972 to the last in 1989. It holds the crown of the longest-running passenger vehicle in Mercedes history, and only the Gelandewagen off-roader outlived it. The SL is an enduring symbol of 80s glamor and lauded by enthusiasts around the world for its performance, everyday practicality, and rock-solid quality.
